"Yugi-san, this duel with you is the best time I've ever had", Judai says. Previously, he met Yugi in the exhibition hall, where he told Judai that it was time to start their true graduation duel. Judai was startled by that, but once Judai took out his Winged Kuriboh card, it took him back to the past, where he ran into Mutou Yugi in Domino City as he left his grandfather's card shop. After Judai's astonishment at seeing him, the two of them started their duel at the clock tower in Downtown Domino, the same spot where Battle City began.

"Your existence glitters rather than anybody whom I have fought with. Back then, I kept wishing in my heart for it. This duel and this moment...I wish they would last forever...", Judai thinks as he remembers the start of his duel against Yugi.

The duel between Yugi and Judai continues. The two still have their full 4000 LP and their ace monsters, who have the same attack power, on the field. Judai says that if the symbol of Yugi's deck is Black Magician, the symbol of his deck is E-Hero Neos, adding that the game starts here. "Bring it on, Judai-kun," Yugi says, looking forward to it. Still in his turn, Yugi realizes that Black Magician and E-Hero Neos have the same 2500 attack points, so he won't battle him, ending his turn.

And so, it's Judai's turn. Drawing a card, he summons [Card Gunner - 3/400/400: Increase this card's ATK by 500 points until the end of the turn every time you send a card from the top of your Deck in the Cemetery. You can send only up to 3 cards to the Cemetery in a turn with this effect. When this card is destroyed, draw 1 card from your Deck] onto the field in attack position. According to the special effect of Card Gunner, he can send up to 3 cards on the top of his deck to the cemetery to increase its attack points by 500 for each sent card, only for this turn. Thus, Judai sends Necro Gardna, E-Hero Necro Darkman, and Spark Gun to the cemetery to increase the attack points of Card Gunner to 1900 (400+500*3).

Next, he activates his face-down spell card [Neos Force - Equipment Spell: Equip only to E-Hero Neos. If gains 800 ATK. When it destroys a monster by battle and sends it to the Graveyard, inflict damage to your opponent equal to the ATK of the destroyed monster. During the End Phase shuffle this card into the Deck], equipping it with E-Hero Neos. This spell can increase the attack points of E-Hero Neos by 800, to 3300 (2500+800).

Yugi realizes how many attack points Neos now has, as Judai explains the additional effect of Neos Force: when the equipped E-Hero Neos destroys a monster in battle, damage equal to the attack points of the destroyed monster is inflicted to the opponent. He then declares Neos's attack against Black Magician. Telling Judai that he won't make it, Yugi activates his face-down trap card [Holy Barrier Mirror Force ~ Seinaru Barrier Mirror Force - Normal Trap: You can only activate this card when your opponent's monster declares an attack. Destroy all Attack Position monsters on your opponent's side of the field]. to destroy all monsters in attack position on Judai's field. As a result, E-Hero Neos is destroyed. As Judai shouts his name, Card Gunner is destroyed as well. However, Judai activates Card Gunner's effect: when it's destroyed, he can draw a card from his deck.

Death and Rebirth
Trap Card

He then activates a face-down trap card, [Death and Rebirth - Trap: You can only activate this card if a Normal Monster on your side of the field is destroyed during your turn's Battle Phase. Destroy 1 monster on your opponent's side of the field and Special Summon 1 Normal Monster that was destroyed in attack mode. The monster Special Summoned by this card's effect must attack]. As a result of its effect, when a normal monster on Judai's field is destroyed in battle this turn, he can destroy a monster on the opponent's field and special summon back his destroyed monster.

Judai selects Black Magician as the target for this destruction effect. While this effect is being applied to Black Magician, Yugi also activates a face-down trap card, [Shift Change - Trap: You can activate this card when your opponent designates 1 monster on your side of the field as the target of a Spell, Trap, or battle attack. Switch the target to another monster on your side of the field].

This card's effect allows Yugi to change the target from Black Magician to Meddling Elf Warrior. Thus, instead of Black Magician, Meddling Elf Warrior is destroyed by the effect of Death and Rebirth. This trap also allows Judai to revive E-Hero Neos in attack position (E-Hero Neos is a normal monster, so it satisfies the effect of Death and Rebirth).

E-Hero Neos, the monster summoned by Death and Rebirth's effect, is forced to attack this turn. Yugi and Judai declare the battle of their monsters together. Black Magician and E-Hero Neos strike each other in the air. Both of them have the same 2500 attack points, so they are destroyed together. Judai is impressed by how Yugi was able to dodge his attacks pretty well, as Yugi is amazed that Judai could read his play of Holy Barrier Mirror Force and counter beautifully.

With Judai's turn over, it's now Yugi's turn. He draws a card, and summons [Alpha the Magnet Warrior ~ Magnet Warrior Alpha - 4/1400/1700] onto the field in attack position. Without waiting, he declares Magnet Warrior Alpha's direct "Magnet Sky Sword Flash" attack against Judai. However, Judai activates the special effect of the [Necro Gardna - 3/600/1300: By removing this card in your Cemetery from play, negate 1 attack of an opponent's monster] in his cemetery. By removing it from the graveyard and from play, he negates an opponent's attack once. In this case, he negates Magnet Warrior Alpha's attack.

Yugi looks confused as Necro Gardna shields Judai from Alpha's attack. He realizes that Judai sent Necro Gardna to the cemetery when he activated Card Gunner's effect. "Amazing...that deck of Judai's...it's as if he was able to manipulate it to his advantage", he thinks.

With Yugi's turn over, it's now Judai's turn. He draws a card and summons [E-Hero Sparkman - 4/1600/1400] onto the field in attack position. Judai declares E-Hero Sparkman's "Spark Flash" attack against Magnet Warrior Alpha, destroying it and reducing Yugi's LP to 3800 (4000+1400-1600). "Magnet Warrior...," Yugi says, starting his turn.

Yugi draws a card and summons [Swift Gaia the Fierce Knight ~ Shiffu No Ankokukishi Gaia - 2300/2100: If this card is the only card in your hand, you can Summon this card in face-up Attack Position without offering monsters as Tributes. This is treated as a Normal Summon] onto the field in attack position. Yugi tells Judai that Swift Gaia the Fierce Knight, when it is the only card in his hand, can be summoned onto the field without a sacrifice. He declares its "Spiral Shaver" attack, and destroys E-Hero Sparkman. Judai receives battle damage, and his LP decreases to 3300 (4000+1600-2300). "Amazing...he reduced my life. Even though I read his strategy, I couldn't read it entirely," Judai thinks.

With his turn over, it's now Judai's turn. Drawing a card, he activates the special effect of [E-Hero Necro Darkman - 5/1600/1800: While this card is in your Graveyard, you can Special Summon 1 monster from your hand that includes E-Hero in its card name without Tributing, You can only use this effect once while this card is in the Graveyard], who was sent to the cemetery through Card Gunner's effect. When E-Hero Darkman is in the cemetery, only once, he can summon an E-Hero without a sacrifice. And so, he summons [E-Hero Edgeman - 7/2600/1800: If this card attacks with an ATK higher than the DEF of your opponent's Defense Position monster, inflict the difference as Battle Damage to your opponent's Life Points] from his hand onto the field.

Impact Flip
Spell Card

Next, Judai plays the last card in his hand, [Impact Flip - Equipment Spell: Once per turn, you can change 1 of your opponent's monsters in face-down defense mode to face-up defense mode. (Reverse effects are not activated at this time.) In the turn you activate this effect, the equipped monster cannot conduct battle. When the equipped monster destroys an opponent's monster by battle, your opponent sends 1 card from his deck to the Cemetery. When this card is sent to the Cemetery, both players draw 1 card from their decks], equipping it with E-Hero Edgeman.

Judai explains that when the equipped monster destroys a monster in battle, the opponent sends a card from his deck to the cemetery. He then declares E-Hero Edgeman's attack, destroying Swift Gaia the Fierce Knight, and reducing Yugi's LP to 3500 (3800+2300-2600), as he sends a card from his deck to the cemetery. Judai stands fierce as Edgeman returns to his side of the field, signaling the end of his turn.

It's now Yugi's turn. He draws a card and plays [Card of Sanctity ~ Ten Yori No Housatsu - Spell: Each player draws cards until you have 6 cards in your hands]. This card allows both players to draw until they have 6 cards in their hands. Yugi and Judai both draw, and Yugi then special summons [Watapon - 1/200/300: If this card is added to your hand from you Deck by the effect of a Spell, Trap, or Monster Card, you can Special Summon this card on your side of the field] to the field in attack position. He explains that if Watapon is added to his hand by the effect of a spell card (in this case is the effect of Card of Sanctity), it can be special summoned onto the field.

Sacrificing Watapon, Yugi summons [Black Magician Girl - 6/2000/1700: The ATK of this card increases by 300 points for every Dark Magician or Dark Magician Girl in either player's Graveyard] onto the field in attack position. "This is...Yugi-san's Black Magician Girl! I want Sho to see this", exclaims Judai.

Note: Sho is attracted to Black Magician Girl in season I (episode 42). He dreams of her and thinks that he gets her kiss.

Yugi explains that Black Magician Girl's attack power, for each Black Magician in the cemetery, increases by 300 points, adding up to 2300 (2000+300). He then declares Black Magician Girl's attack, much to Judai's surprise, as he points out that his E-Hero Edgeman has 2600 attack points, which are clearly higher than Black Magician Girl's. Regardless, Yugi continues his attack, as Black Magician Girl uses her "Black Burning" attack. "But why would you attack a monster with more attack power?" Judai asks, as Yugi replies that it's nothing like that. A monster appears behind E-Hero Edgeman, holding down its body, much to Judai's surprise.

Yugi says that the card he previously sent to the Cemetery with Impact Flip's effect was [Archfiend of Gilfer ~ Gilfer Demon - 6/2200/2500: When this card is sent to the Graveyard, you can activate its effect. You can then equip it to a monster on the field, and this card will be treated as an Equip Spell Card that decreases the ATK of the equipped monster by 500 points]. When this monster is in the cemetery, it can be equipped to a monster on the field, reducing that monster's attack power by 500 points.

Yugi equips this monster to E-Hero Edgeman, reducing its attack points to 2100 (2600-500), startling Judai. Thus, Black Magician Girl is able to destroy E-Hero Edgeman, making Judai's LP decrease to 3100 (3300+2100-2300). Judai then activates Impact Flip's effect: when it's sent to the cemetery, both players draw a card from their decks. After doing so, Yugi sets 3 face-down cards, ending his turn.

Judai looks worried. He knows that the person opposing him (Yugi) is an unpredictable duelist, as all of his attacks were completely stopped. Yubel's spirit then appears in his mind. She asks if Judai is getting scared, as Judai repeats her words. Yubel tells him to look at his own hand, and when he does, Judai notices his hand shaking. This shows that he is getting frightened. After chuckling a bit, Yubel tells Judai that this is really different. She understands his heart, so she knows that Judai actually isn't scared, telling him that he's currently recovering what he has lost.

Those words remind Judai of what Yugi told him earlier in episode 179. Yugi said that in the last 3 years, he had become much stronger. He had also overcome many ordeals to become a reliable adult. However, in doing so, Judai lost something. Judai repeated his words in shock, as Yugi told him that it's an important thing that he hasn't noticed, and he had to get it back. Realizing that Yubel said the same thing, Judai looks towards Yugi, thinking that he understands what that lost thing actually is.

Yugi and Judai look at each other, and they suddenly start to laugh. Yugi apologizes, not knowing what they're laughing about, and Judai says that he feels the same way. "Yugi-san, you're strong, and very powerful. I have never met such a strong person like this", he says.

Yugi feels so. He realizes how Judai feels, saying that he hasn't known a duelist like Judai who has such a deep bond with his deck. Judai looks at his deck and thinks that Yubel is right. He is currently using this duel to get back what he has lost. Judai reminds himself of several serious battles in the past (all in Season III). He dueled many people (Professor Satou, Professor Cobra, and Dark Johan) who thought that a duel is not something to enjoy. Those battles taught him that there was a serious responsibility in a duel.

To prepare for it, Judai was attempting to become an adult. However, he also realizes that there is something that must not be forgotten. It's something he has lost to force himself to be a reliable adult for responsibility as a hero. Judai thinks that with Yugi's level and strength, he may be able to get that thing back. Judai declares that it's his turn, but before drawing a card, he tells Yugi that he is going to do his best. Yugi smiles, anticipating what Judai is going to show.

Judai (As expected, this guy is an unpredictable duelist. All of the attacks I launched were entirely stopped).
Yubel Are you scared?
Judai Scared?
Yubel Look at your hand!
Judai I'm getting frightened.
Yubel Hi hi hi...But that's not really it. I understand your heart. You are currently getting back that which you've lost.
Judai That which I've lost?
Yugi Over the past three years, you've gotten very strong, and you've overcome many ordeals to mature into a reliable adult. However, in doing so, you lost something.
Judai I lost something?
Yugi That's right. It's something important that you yourself haven't noticed...You must go and retrieve it.
Judai Something I've lost. I get it...what it is. (Yubel, just like you said, with this duel, I'll certainly get back what I have lost. I know that a duel isn't fun for everyone. I even know that there is serious responsibility in a duel. To prepare for that, I have to become an adult...but...there is something that must not be forgotten...and that's...If it's through this person, if it's through the strength of this person, I may be able to get it back) My turn! I'm going to do my best, Yugi-san!

summary - second period
episode 180 summarized by Janime & edited by GymLeaderLance99

Judai declares that it's his turn, but before drawing a card, he tells Yugi that he is going to do his best. Yugi accepts his challenge, telling him to bring it on. Judai draws and gets Winged Kuriboh. The 7 cards in his other hand (6 of them were drawn earlier by the effect of Yugi's Card of Sanctity) are Code Change, Hero's Guild, Contact Out, Neo Space, Miracle Contact, Miracle Fusion, and Sub-Space Battle.

Judai first plays the permanent spell, [Hero's Guild - Continuous Spell: Both players send 1 card from the top of their decks to the Cemetery. If that card is a Warrior-type, the player that sent that card to the Cemetery can add that card to their hand. This effect can only be used once per turn, and if you add a card into your hand by this effect, destroy this card]. By its effect, both players discard the top cards of their deck, and if the card's a warrior-type monster, they can add the card into their decks. Otherwise, they have to be sent to the cemetery.

Judai draws and gets N-Spacian Groun Mole. Although it has a special ability that returns monsters on both fields to the players' hand, Groun Mole is a beast-type, so he wouldn't keep it. Still, he thinks that there's another way to make it work, playing his second spell card, the Instant spell, [Code Change - Quick Play Spell: After activating this card, once until the end of the turn, you can change the Type written on a card's effect text to a Type of your own choosing]. Now he can change the type written in a card's effect text to any type he chooses.

Judai begins to say that he'll change Hero's Guild's warrior-type text, but Yugi seems able to read Judai's strategy, saying that he won't let him. He activates his face-down trap card, [Spirit Mirror ~ Seirei No Kagami - Trap: Negate the activation and effect of a Magic card. During this turn, you can activate the card negated by this effect as your own]. This trap seals a spell card within this spirit, and so he decides to seal Code Change, stopping Judai's strategy. His strategy all but useless, he sends Groun Mole and Code Change into his cemetery, while Yugi draws a card through the effect of Code Change. "What a shame...my card isn't a warrior-type at all," Judai tells Judai, sending it to the cemetery without revealing what it is.

Judai tells Yugi that his strategy doesn't end here, playing his third spell [Sub-Space Battle ~ Akuukam Battle - Continuous Spell: Both players select 3 Monster cards from their decks and show 1 card they selected to their opponents simultaneously. The player who presents monsters with an attack power lower than the opposing player's receives 500 points of damage and sends that card to the Cemetery. The player who presents monsters with an attack power higher than the opposing player's adds that cards to their hands. If the monster's attack powers are the same, both players send them to the Cemetery. After you've repeated this effect, destroy this card].

Sub-Space Battle
Spell Card

According the effect of this spell, both players have to select 3 monsters from their decks and show them to each other at the same time. The player with the weaker monster takes 500 points of damage and sends his card to the cemetery, while the player with the stronger monster adds that card to his hand.

Both Yugi and Judai select their monsters, and once they do, Judai tells Yugi that it's time. Judai calls out his three monsters, while Yugi calls out his three. The monsters Judai chose are N-Spacian Flare Scarab, N-Spacian Aqua Dolphin, and E-Hero Clayman, who have 500, 600, and 800 ATK respectively. The monsters Yugi chose are Buster Blader, Chaos Soldier, and Valkyrion the Magnet Warrior, who have 2600, 3000, and 3500 ATK respectively.

With Yugi's monsters all having higher attack points, Yugi declares their attacks. Buster Blader takes out Clayman with his Destructive Sword Slash, Chaos Soldier takes out Aqua Dolphin with his Chaos Blade, and Valkyrion takes out Flare Scarab with his Magnet Saber. Judai's monsters lose this sub-space battle, as Judai's LP decrease to 1600 (3100-500*3). Due to Sub-Space Battle, he sends his three cards to the cemetery, while Yugi adds his 3 cards to his hand. The two other cards in his hand are Kuriboh and Magical Hats. Judai claims that his preparation has helped him with this. Yugi suddenly realizes that Judai chose those lower-attack-point monsters with Sub-Space Battle to intentionally send them into his cemetery.

"Let's go, Yugi-san! This is the power of my Elemental Hero deck!" Judai says, a smile appearing on his face. He plays his fourth spell card, [Miracle Fusion - Spell: Remove from play, from your side of the field or your Graveyard, Fusion Material Monsters that are listed on a Fusion Monster Card that included E-Hero in its card name, and Special Summon that Fusion Monster from your Fusion Deck. (This Special Summon is treated as a Fusion Summon)]. According to its effect, he is allowed to remove fusion-material monsters from his field or cemetery from play to special summon an E-Hero fusion monster.

Thus, Judai removes E-Hero Flame Wingman and E-Hero Sparkman in the cemetery from play in order to special summon [E-Hero Shining Flare Wingman - 8/2500/2100: This monster cannot be Special Summoned except by Fusion Summon. Increase the ATK of this card by 300 points for each card in your Graveyard that includes E-Hero in its card name. When this card destroys a monster as a result of battle and sends it to the Graveyard, inflict damage to your opponent's Life Points equal to the ATK of the destroyed monster] onto the field in attack position.

Judai adds that Shining Flare Wingman's attack power, for each "E-Hero" monster in his cemetery, increases by 300 points. E-Hero Bubbleman, E-Hero Featherman, E-Hero Burst Lady, E-Hero Edgeman, E-Hero Clayman, and E-Hero Necro Darkman, who are all in his cemetery, appear behind him, as the attack power of E-Hero Shining Flare Wingman becomes 4300 (2500+300*6).

Next, Judai plays his fifth spell card, [Miracle Contact - Spell: Return to your deck, from your side of the field or your Graveyard, monsters that are listed on a Fusion Monster Card that uses E-Hero Neos as Fusion Material, and Special Summon 1 Fusion Monster with E-Hero in its name, which uses E-Hero Neos as Fusion Material, from your Fusion Deck. (This Special Summon is treated as a Fusion Summon)]. This lets him return fusion-material monsters in his cemetery to his deck to special summon a "Neos" fusion monster.

Judai returns E-Hero Neos, N-Spacian Groun Mole, and N-Spacian Flare Scarab from his cemetery to his deck for a triple contact fusion. As Yugi looks amazed at the sight of the fusion, Judai summons [E-Hero Magma Neos - 9/3000/2500: This card can only be Special Summoned from your Fusion Deck by returning the above cards from your side of the field to the Deck (You do not use Polymerization). This card gains 400 ATK for each card on the field. This card returns to the Fusion Deck during the End Phase. When this card is returned to the Fusion Deck this way, return all cards on the field to the respective owners' hands] onto the field in attack position.

Judai continues by playing his sixth spell card, the Field spell [Neo Space - Field Spell: Increase the ATK of E-Hero Neos and Fusion Monsters that have E-Hero Neos as a Fusion-Material Monster by 500 points. The Fusion Monsters that has E-Hero Neos as a Fusion Material-Monster cannot be sent back to your Fusion Deck at the End Phase], which increases Magma Neos's ATK by 500 points. In addition, E-Hero Magma Neos gains 400 ATK for each card on the field, raising Magma Neos's attack power to 6300 (3000+500+400*7).

Note: Yugi has 4 cards on the field: Spirit Mirror, Black Magician Girl, and 2 face-down cards. As for Judai, he has 3 cards on his field: E-Hero Shining Flare Wingman, Neo Space, and Hero's Guild. That means that there are 7 cards on the field in all, which boosts Magma Neos's ATK. Furthermore, Magma Neos's ATK rises due to Neo Space's effect, since it lists "E-Hero Neos" as a fusion-material monster. Because Shining Flare Wingman doesn't list "E-Hero Neos" as a fusion-material monster, its ATK doesn't change due to Neo Space's effect.

Yugi is pretty surprised at how the two monsters have 4300 and 6300 attack points, as Judai proudly tells him that this is the potential of his E-Hero monsters. Yugi is very impressed, saying that they're amazing. Judai rubs his nose, pleased with that compliment. He then declares Magma Neos's "Super Heat Meteor" attack, aiming for Black Magician Girl.

However, Yugi tells him that his Black Magician Girl has the magical ability to redirect attacks. He then activates his face-down trap card, [Magic Cylinder - Trap: Negate the attack of 1 of your opponent's monsters and inflict Direct Damage equal to the attacking monster's ATK to your opponent's Life Points]. As Judai becomes shocked, Yugi says that Magic Cylinder negates his opponent's attack and sends it right back. The Super Heat Meteor goes into one of the cylinders and, as it fires out of the other, Black Magician Girl covers her ears.

However, before the redirected Meteor hits Magma Neos, Judai plays his seventh spell, the Quick-Play [Contact Out - Quick Play Spell: Return 1 Fusion Monster on the field that includes Neos in its name. In addition, if the set of Fusion-Material Monsters used to Special Summon that monster are together in your Deck, you can Special Summon those specific monsters to your side of the field] from his hand.

Note: Contact Out is a quick-play spell that can be played from one's hand at any time during their turn, if it can be used. Otherwise, a card must be on the field to counter the opponent's move.

With the effect of Contact Out, Judai defuses Magma Neos into N-Spacian Flare Scarab, N-Spacian Groun Mole, and E-Hero Neos. And because Magma Neos is no longer on the field, Magic Cylinder is left without a target. Yugi becomes surprised at how Judai dodged the redirected attack from Magic Cylinder.

Judai says that he still has Shining Flare Wingman's attack left, declaring its attack immediately. While E-Hero Shining Flare Wingman jumps up and prepares to fire its attack, Judai tells Yugi that Shining Flare Wingman's effect, when it destroys a monster in battle, inflicts damage to the opponent equal to the attack points of the destroyed monster. In other words, if his monster destroys Black Magician Girl, Judai will win.

Note: Yugi currently has 3500 LP left. If his Black Magician Girl is destroyed by E-Hero Shining Flare Wingman, his LP will decrease to 1500 (3500+2300-4300). And by taking damage equal to the attack points of Black Magician Girl (with the effect of Shining Flare Wingman), his LP will drop to 0 (1500-2000).

"Yugi-san, I'll win this duel from you," Judai tells Yugi confidently. However, a voice asks, "Is that so?", much to Judai's surprise. Yugi's Millennium Puzzle begins to glow, as Yubel tells Judai that the king of duelists, the other soul sleeping in Yugi's mind, is coming. The light of the Puzzle envelops Yugi, and with its power, he transforms into Yami Yugi, who emerges with the Millennium Eye symbol on his forehead.

Judai's eyes turn to Yubel's orange-green eyes and begin to glow. He realizes that the one now standing in front of him is the soul of the legendary nameless Pharaoh. Yami Yugi asks Yugi, his partner, if he'll allow him to take over for the rest of this duel. Yugi notices his other self, who tells him that Judai's strength is appealing to the duelist soul within him, and that he wants to try it out. Yugi doesn't mind and leaves the rest to his other self. "Let's go, Judai-kun!" Yami Yugi says, turning to Judai.

Note: Judai calls Yami Yugi "the nameless Pharaoh". This means that the time to which he came to meet Yugi in the past had been before Little Yugi and Yami Yugi went to Egypt to have their ceremonial battle (Episodes 221-224 in the original series). In addition, in a page from the Duel Sport newspaper that Judai had looked at earlier in episode 179, it says that Yugi has just won Battle City V2. This Battle City V2 doesn't exist in the original series, neither in the anime nor manga. It's something that the writers made up to show that Judai goes back to the past to duel Yugi at a point in time where the soul of Atem still existed.

Yami Yugi activates his last face-down trap card, [Dark Renewal ~ Kuromasoku Fukkatsu No Sunogi - Trap: You can only activate this card if your opponent Normal Summons or Special Summons a monster. Tribute the summoned monster and 1 monster on your side of the field, Special Summon 1 Spellcaster-Type monster in your Graveyard to the field]. According to its effect, when his opponent summons a monster, he sacrifices that monster and one of his monsters to revive a Spellcaster in his cemetery. Yami Yugi chooses to sacrifice Judai's Groun Mole and his Black Magician Girl to revive his monster.

Note: The effect of Dark Renewal works when the opponent (Judai, in this case) normal-summons or special-summons a monster to the field. Judai's Contact Out let him special summon E-Hero Neos, N-Spacian Flare Scarab, and N-Spacian Groun Mole to the field. Thus, Dark Renewal targets those 3 monsters accordingly. And it's a good choice to choose N-Spacian Groun Mole. This is still Judai's Battle Phase, and although Yami Yugi can summon any monster, it's Judai who will be able to launch an attack. If Judai attacks with N-Spacian Groun Mole, the two monsters would return to the players' hands due to N-Spacian Groun Mole's special effect. We don't know whether Yami Yugi actually knows this effect, but the anime just shows that he made a good choice.

Judai thinks that Yami Yugi is going to summon Black Magician back to the field. (Actually, if Yugi does, the result won't be that different because he'll still lose anyway). Yami Yugi tells him that he isn't, activating the effect of the Code Change within Spirit Mirror at this moment. Code Change allows him to change the monster type written in an effect's text into any type he wants. Judai has just realized his goal: it was the card Yugi sent to the Cemetery back when Judai used Hero's Guild. Yugi told him that it wasn't a warrior-type, so he sent it to the cemetery without revealing what it was. The card was really The Sky Dragon of Osiris. "That's right. The one I'm calling out isn't a Spellcaster--it's God!" Yami Yugi tells him, calling out The Sky Dragon of Osiris.

Note: He used Code Change's effect to change The Sky Dragon of Osiris's type while in the cemetery from God to Spellcaster in order to satisfy the condition of Dark Renewal. When The Sky Dragon of Osiris became a Spellcaster type, Dark Renewal allowed Yami Yugi to special-summon it.

Clouds form in the sky, lightning shooting from them, thunder booming from them. Judai stands in awe, as Osiris begins to emerge from the clouds, catching Shining Flare Wingman's attention, as well as that of Flare Scarab and Neos. Standing before them is [Sky Dragon of Osiris ~ Osiris No Tenkuu Ryuu - 10/x000/x000: The ATK of this card is 1000 points x the number of cards in your hand. Each time your opponent Normal Summons, Flip Summons, or Special Summons a Monster(s), decrease the ATK (if in Attack Mode) or DEF (if in Defense Mode) of the Summoned Monster(s) by 2000 points. If the Monster(s)'s ATK/DEF is below 2000 points, it is destroyed], who lets out a loud roar, blowing a gust of wind toward Judai, who realizes that what he sees before him is God. Osiris was summoned in attack position, and has 5000 points because of the 5 cards in Yami Yugi's hand (Kuriboh, Magical Hats, Buster Blader, Chaos Soldier, and Magnet Warrior Valkyrion), each giving it 1000 ATK.

Note1: Everything from the start of the second part of this episode on has happened in Judai's turn. Judai has played 7 spell cards in this turn. One of them was the Code Change that was countered by Yugi's Spirit Mirror trap card. Code Change and Spirit Mirror are not permanent, so their effects must be played in this turn but can be played in different timings. When Yugi activated Spirit Mirror to obtain the effect of Code Change, he kept it for activation at the right time.

Note 2: The Sky Dragon of Osiris's effect which inflicts 2000 damage points to Judai's monsters doesn't activate now. This effect only works at the moment Judai summons a monster while The Sky Dragon of Osiris is on the field. Judai's monsters on the field are E-Hero Shining Flare Wingman, E-Hero Neos, and N-Spacian Flare Scarab, and they were all summoned before The Sky Dragon of Osiris. Thus, The Sky Dragon of Osiris' effect to inflict 2000 points of damage to Judai's monsters doesn't work.

"Judai-kun", Yami Yugi says, "You are a great duelist, and you deserve to have God as your opponent". Judai smiles, looking very happy. "Yugi-san", he thinks, "I'll never forget it...the best and most precious moment you've given me!". Clenching his fist, he exclaims that dueling a great opponent like this is making him very excited. If that's what he desires, Yami Yugi says, then the true decisive game starts right here, and Judai agrees with him.

Judai stands with Winged Kuriboh and Yubel appearing at his side, while Yami Yugi stands with Kuriboh and Yugi appearing at his side. "Thanks to you", he thinks, "I've gotten it back...that thing I've lost all this time and that I haven't been aware of. It's something that, when I become an adult, I can't forget". He then bravely declares E-Hero Neos's attack, as Neos flies towards The Sky Dragon of Osiris.

Yami Yugi and Yugi stand side-by-side in awe of the attack, as Judai thinks, "No matter what happens, I won't forget it...I'll always have it...the feeling of joy in a duel", Judai thinks, looking at the last moment of the fight between his hero and God, as it all fades to white.

Note 1: This was all still in Judai's turn, so it's him who can declare an attack. He already had Shining Flare Wingman attack Black Magician Girl, who disappeared due to the effect of Dark Renewal. Without an attack target, Shining Flare Wingman couldn't continue its attack, and Judai can't have it attack again in this Battle Phase. His two remaining monsters are E-Hero Neos and N-Spacian Flare Scarab, who were defused from Magma Neos with Contact Out's effect. Neos has the highest ATK, so Judai has it attack Sky Dragon of Osiris. He knows what the outcome of the duel will be, even though the anime doesn't show it. Judai only has Winged Kuriboh left in his hand, and Hero's Guild and Neo Space on the field, meaning he has nothing left to turn the duel around. And so, he chooses to end the duel by bravely having Neos attack, making for a great last move. Regardless, the duel should technically end with Yugi's victory. Osiris had 5000 ATK while E-Hero Neos had 3000 ATK (2500+500: a bonus from the effect of Neo Space). The battle between God and his hero would result in the defeat of his hero. As a result, Judai's LP would decrease to 0 (1600+3000-5000), and thus would be defeated.

Note 2: In conclusion, something Judai has lost is his exciting moment and fun in a duel. He has lost this feeling in order to become a grown and reliable adult. Dueling with a strong duelist like Yugi helps him get back this feeling.

When the scene fades in, we see a desert, one in which it seems Judai started his journey after leaving Duel Academia. "Yugi-san", he says, "I will be stronger. And when that time comes...Thank you, Yugi-san! Gotcha! That was a really nice duel!", Judai says, thanking Yugi for the great time, and showing his sign of victory to the sky.

He picks up his bag, when something begins to move inside the bag, letting out a weird sound. Judai wonders what it is, opening his bag to look, and finds Pharaoh inside. As if that wasn't enough to surprise Judai, the soul of Teacher Daitokuji then leaves Pharaoh's mouth. Teacher Daitokuji appears in spirit form, looking around and realizing that Judai has come far.

Judai stands and asks him why he's here, to which Teacher Daitokuji replies, "Now that you mention it, it's that compared to my stay at Duel Academia, it'd be more fun to follow you".

Pharaoh then meows, giving Judai an attached secret letter. Judai looks at the letter, and it appears to contain messages from all of his friends. Teacher Daitokuji tells him that his friends should be able to read his act, so they left this letter for him. He also tells him that his friends must love him very much, and Judai says that he also loves his friends very much. Daitokuji then reverts back to his ball form, telling Judai that they should move on. Judai grabs his things, and then puts his finger in his mouth as a way to tell the direction of the winds, and settles on a direction in which to run.

Messages from friends to Judai:

Asuka: Let's meet again somewhere ne~
Manjoume: Come whenever you want and let's duel!
Fubuki: I will leave Asuka on you, 10 JOIN!
Rei: Rei da...
Kenzan: Don't forget me ~ Don!
Sho: Stupid Big Brother! Take care yourself ne~
Principal Samejima: Move forward! (Zenshin Arunomi)
Professor Chronos: No..Ne~ (Kiss Mark)

"I'm going to just keep running!" Judai says, as Daitokuji tells him to wait for him, trying to catch up. "Straight ahead...Straight ahead! I gotta keep looking straight ahead! Gotcha!", Judai thinks, heading towards his unknown future, and a new journey that's waiting just ahead for him.
